You guys are probably completely over this. Every year, or every couple of years, I get the blogger itch. I always like the idea of blogging. I want to engage with my friends and followers more, and blogging is a great way to do that. I keep up with it for a little while, and then, look out, it's two years down the track and I'm back with one of these posts.
So what makes this post any different than all the others in the past? Well, this time, I mean business. And by business, I mean, I need to take my creative business more seriously, and 2026 is the year I stop faffing about and start doing things properly.
So, I'm going to keep this short.
This year, it is my goal to create content for you that inspires. Many who know me, know that I'm a huge advocate for art (and craft) as a form of therapy. Being someone who suffers from stress and anxiety on a pretty large scale, plus dealing with the possibility that I have dealt with undiagnosed ADHD for nearly 40 years, I find that art and creativity quieten the noise in my brain. It is my meditation. It is what keeps me present, because focusing on what I am creating, right now, in this moment, dulls the sound of overthinking and stops me thinking too far ahead about things that are potentially out of my control. I think that art as a form of therapy is crucial to people who are just like me. ANY form of creativity can help. It can be painting, drawing, sculpting, gardening, cooking, playing music, writing, the list goes on. We ALL have the one thing that helps us cope. We don't have to be good at it, we just have to find that one thing that makes us happy when we are not working, or worrying about the bills, or wondering what to cook for dinner, or just worrying in general. If I can inspire just one of you to sit down and give something new a try, then my job is done. You don't have to be an expert. Just give it a shot. If you enjoy the process, then continue on. If it's not for you, try something else. Just create to bring a little joy into your life.
I love to try new creative projects, so in 2026, I aim to document as much as I can while I create, in the hopes of inspiring you to give something new a try. This year, I will still be teaching at the WEA, and I also plan to create my own online workshops. I would also like to build my community online and engaging with you all much more. So I hope this is the beginning of a fun and exciting new adventure for all of us.
Perhaps you can comment below by telling me a little about yourself, and where you would like your creative journey to take you this year?
