A Week Of Creativity

I've just had a much needed week off work. It's certainly been an interesting week off, to say the least, and was not at all what I had planned, due to an unexpected turn of events. Needless to say, I did make the most of the time I did get to be creative, and on reflection, I did accomplish quite a lot. There were some business elements I would like to have spent more time researching, but being creative is how I like to wind down from stress, so I can forgive myself for perhaps not getting to the 'business' side of things.

The above image is a little matchbox book I made, inspired by the Handmade Book Club. I have been unable to keep up in the group, so my membership has lapsed, but I am still a part of the group and have tried to tag along by creating my own mini books. This one is a Japanese Stab Bound book with a little botanical them. It fits neatly inside the matchbox, along with another botanical mini book I made a couple of weeks ago.

I also took this week as an opportunity to work on the Deck of Dreams 365 by Kellee Wynne at Colour Crush Creative. I've always loved creating ATC's (Artist Trading Cards), and the idea of creating a whole years worth of cards sounded like so much fun, so I decided to join in! I'm not sure I can create the full 365 cards, so I've decided to create 9 cards for each month, totalling 108 cards (at least). I've already gone a little bit rogue and created some extra cards that are unrelated to the current themes. But the great thing about the course is that Kellee is completely flexible with creativity, and even though she has structure, we are encouraged to explore and have fun on our own. Definitely check out her website and her courses. She certainly has a lot to offer!

And then, of course, I have my own challenge, #creativedaily2023. So far, I've been able to keep up with my own challenge and have just completed Week 3! I even have some followers over on Instagram who have joined in too! Who knows, maybe this could turn into an annual thing! And don't forget, you can absolutely join in at any time. There are no rules. You just have to do something creative, on a daily basis, throughout 2023. It can be anything you like! And if you can't do something creative daily, that's also ok. Life gets busy, stuff happens, just like it did for me this past week.

Well, it's back to the daily grind tomorrow. And also back to studying my Art Therapy course, which I have let lapse overt the Christmas and New Year period. The good thing is, I am almost half way through the course and I am still a little bit ahead of my schedule, so the break hasn't set me back too much at all really. I'll also be setting up a quick sale over on my Facebook page. It's just a few bits and bobs that I've created over the last couple of years that I discovered I had stashed away in a cupboard. I'm hoping any funds raised from that can go towards by small business kitty.

And that my friends, is what has been happening this last couple of weeks. I do hav other projects that I've worked on this past week, but I have some extra information I want to share about those, so I'll save those for another post. Don't forget to join in the #creativedaily2023 challenge over on my Instagram! I'll see you back on the blog soon
